Vitreous Enamel Plique a jour leafs necklace pendant

Yellow red autumn leaves. This crossed leaves pendant is made with vitreous enamel, which is colored glass, hence is durable and won’t fade. It is a unique One of a kind (OOAK) artwork. The pendant has an opaque yellow red side and a translucent red side. It represents two crossing autumn leaves in a modern jewelry look. This is an ideal gift for nature lovers and those who like artistic jewelry. The enamel is free standing in a brass frame, with no backing in a technique called “plique a jour“ it is made exclusively with lead free enamels and the brass is protected with a fine layer of lacquer to slow down weathering. It comes with a 24” round section black leather cord. The size of the pendant is approximately 1.5 by 1.5 inches as can be seen on the 5th image with the quarter inch grid.  

This is a handmade item. Like other enameled item in this shop, this pendant is made using vitreous enamel (not plastic) technique. It is fired at high temperature (1290F) to melt the enamel. This process is repeated with different colors until the desired result shade and depth are obtained. The item is then finely polished. Enameling is a time-consuming process but the reward is an unmatched finesse in the nuances and shades as light passes through it, beauty that can last for centuries.
